Site Lends More Realism to Online Dating Scene
By: Quentin Mitchell
The dating scene can be difficult to navigate, whether it's live
or online.
The random act of meeting and falling in love is being slowly
replaced by Web sites that utilize carefully crafted and
categorized screening processes. Yet our innate ability to identify
potential mates could be weakening as we settle for pictures and
profiles that may not even be real.
In fact, online dating can actually prohibit people from meeting
otherwise compatible prospects simply because test results or
profiles don't "match."
But by removing the worst from both the online and real-life dating
worlds and borrowing from corporate business etiquette, one dating
Web site, Luvoo.com (pink sheets: LVTI), has come up with a
possible solution.
Some of Luvoo's strategies include its signature business cards,
background check services, notification service alerting members to
activity on their profile, security and safety precautions and live
events.
"We have merged the online and live dating scenes, taken out the
scary parts, kept the good parts and put in some basic rules of
dating that take the pressure off of everyone," says Luvoo creator
L. Yvonne Vanhoek.
According to Vanhoek: "If you approach dating like a business, then
everyone can relax because they know what the game is."
What could make Luvoo unique is its ability to grab young, savvy,
online consumers, creating a destination internet "club" that
parlays into real life. The site aims to create a lifestyle brand
that its audience can relate to.
"Given the growth capability of the site, Luvoo will become the
first online dating site that is derived by expansion through its
members," said Vanhoek.
